AUSTIN, Texas -- The state's highest criminal court on Monday denied Rep. Tom DeLay's request that the money laundering charges against him be dismissed or sent back to a lower court for an immediate trial.Given that DeLay has already admitted guilt to investigators, it's not surprising that the TX court declined to 'fix' his little problem. It's hard to find a group of judges willing to jump on a sinking ship.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals denied the requests with no written order ....
DeLay's attorney, Dick DeGuerin, said they will continue to push for a quick trial because DeLay faces opposition in the March Republican primary.
DeLay doesn't know it yet, but he won't be seeking reelection come November. The only question is if he will finish his term.
