She's always been outrageous, but when conservative Ann Coulter talked of 9/11 "rag heads" at the 2006 Conservative Political Action Conference and linked the slur "faggot" to Sen. John Edwards in a 2007 speech, CPAC's organizers decided to cut her from the list of speakers at the February 7-9 conference expected to draw 6,000.The tide changed for the GOP when the cold war ended, but they couldn't get it. After Clinton's two terms they ran who they thought was their star, George W., and he lost to Al Gore even while Gore ceded 8 million votes to Nader. Post Sept. 11, with the country at war, they had to drum up 3 to 4 million new evangelical voters just to win re-election (by the smallest margin in United States history). By getting Bush 43 in the White House, they won a battle, but they have been losing the war since 1990.
Sadly, the Republicans are starting to figure it out. Now, if we can only get the Democrats to understand.
