Desperate to Appease

Neville Chamberlain Harry Reid is seeking a 15 day extension of the FISA bill from it's current expiration of February 16, so that the Senate and House can work out a single bill in conference.

Everyone seems to agree that the impotent Reid's bill is DOA.

Of note, the Senate lead by the minority has passed a bill that includes immunity to telecom companies who willing broke the law to spy on Americans months before September 11, 2001.

The House passed a bill without this immunity. Most Democrats do not favor the immunity and it would be easy to dump in conference (Republicans completely re-wrote bills in Conference) since the Dems control the conference process. However, the Democrats are handicapped by Harry Reid, a spineless wonder who just can't do enough for the White House.

The fact is that the looming expiration aides dumping the immunity and forces the GOP to vote 'no' on the up or down vote. Reid knows this so wants to extend for 15 days to make sure he gives Bush the bill Bush demands.

Have you called Senator Reid's office at 202-224-3542 and told him -- politely -- how disappointed you are in his lack of leadership on the FISA bill and telecom immunity and ask him to resign?

Have you called the White House at 202-456-1414 and asked them --politely -- if they would please give Harry Reid back his balls?
