Chuck Todd taped an interview yesterday for an MSNBC documentary on Romney and his campaign that will air later this month in the run-up to the GOP Convention.
Todd asked Romney about his VEEP choice and Romney quickly batted the question away saying he wouldn't have anything for Todd on the VEEP at this time. Romney then went on to describe what he was looking for:
“I certainly expect to have a person that has a strength of character, a vision for the country that adds something to the political discourse about the direction of the country. I happen to believe this is a defining election for America, that we're going to be voting for what kind of America we're going to have.”If you read the above quote and immediately determined that Romney was obviously talking about Paul Ryan than you too are a member of the DC media bubble or what blogger Duncan Black likes to call the Village Idiots.
This begs the question of whom Romney would have been signally had Romney said he was looking for a candidate lacking in character, devoid of any vision for the future of the country who would add nothing to the political discourse. Portman? Pawlenty?
