Obama authorizes secret support of Syrian rebels

This will make the Republicans in Congress and elsewhere completely apoplectic.

Mark Hosenball of Reuters, citing government "sources familiar with the matter" is reporting this morning that President Obama has signed a secret order authorizing US support for Syrian rebels.
Obama's order, approved earlier this year and known as an intelligence "finding," broadly permits the CIA and other U.S. agencies to provide support that could help the rebels oust Assad.

This and other developments signal a shift toward growing, albeit still circumscribed, support for Assad's armed opponents - a shift that intensified following last month's failure of the U.N. Security Council to agree on tougher sanctions against the Damascus government.

The White House is for now apparently stopping short of giving the rebels lethal weapons, even as some U.S. allies do just that.
Republicans have no problem with intelligence leaks that embarrass the President.  But every time there is an intel leak that portrays the president as, well,....Presidential it enrages the GOP in ways that become comical. This will no doubt lead to further hearing in the House.

I'm looking for those good at decoding journalist speak for unnamed sources to offer insight into the source of this leak.  Beltway journalist who know Mark Hosenball may also know who he is close to that could be a source.
